Last week there were two murders. Well there are always murders in Atlanta. A lot of black on black crimes, and what not. The big deal about these two murders were they were out of state, the residents from GA. The first occurred at Auburn University. A freshman girl was killed and her car was found nearby torched. She was from Cobb County a top student from Walton HS. Walton is a public school, but it's ranked pretty high, like Piedmont HS in Piedmont. Money, and drive to the succeed are the norm from this area. This was a pretty little white girl. The cream of the crop so to speak of that graduating class, her who life ahead of her. Then the next day another murder was reported. This happened at UNC, in Chapel Hill NC. This again a young pretty white girl. This one was not a freshman, but a 3rd year student. Honors up the wazoo from HS and college, prestigious scholarships were given to her. She was a double major biology and political science. A pre-med student who was president of the student body and on the student board of trustees. A lovely young woman from Athens, about an or so away from Atlanta. So what about these women, that has caused me to write about them? They were killed by 20 something black men. One has been arrested already, the other is still on the loose, but they have pictures of him everywhere. They don't know who he is yet, but they have footage of him using the girl's atm card, in a convenience store, where the only other person in the store was the clerk.
Goof mentioned this last night as we were watching the news. "I wonder if this will kill Obama's chance at president?" I asked him why that should make a difference, and he responded, "Cream of the crop young pretty white girls- young black men, robbing, attempted rape and killing of these girls. A lot of people will be scared off because of this" I think it's all bunk, but he does have a point. There is a lot of dirty advertising going on between the candidates, and if these deaths had happened during the GA primaries would it have changed the outcome? Would the Democrats who voted for Obama, be racially motivated to vote for Clinton instead, because she's a white woman instead of the inherent fear of the black male? I can't honestly say what my opinion would be. I like Hillary for what she has to offer over what Obama's platform is. Do I fear him? Well no, but I am not stupid. I fear many people, as a smaller framed woman, I have good reason to. I don't have a gun on my person, and the way the MTV culture dresses, males may have varied looks, but the gangster look is frightening. Bagging pants, hoodies, and t-shirts. The gangster dressed maybe very nice people, but the image they throw off is nothing less than scary for me.
