Something to think about pt4

I read Obama's speech last night. Wishful thinking on his part. I don't believe people can put aside racial issues. While I understand what he explained about the older black generation, their mistrust of white people holding them back in large and small ways intentional or not, and the decline of the black family through welfare systems. It is still not an easily overcome situation. There is guilt, and poor actions on all sides. Is it really the fault of the grandmother to feel nervous walking near a black man? Could it also be the fault of that black man, frightening the grandmother, by his posed thug/prison swagger, and oversized clothing as he walks by? Or the language he uses as he speaks on his cell phone or to his companions? I'm not saying it's all the black culture's fault, but honestly, Obama is trying to change our societal expectations, while the ghetto/thug/rapper image is flourishing. He has mentioned that he's a man standing on two lands. The white and black lands. His mother is white, and he was raised by his maternal grandparents. I'm sure if we were to go down the list of all the things he's experienced there would be marks against each side. I think the worst is the labeling. 'He's too white', 'Not white enough', 'Too black', 'Not black enough'. The guy is trying to run for president because he has dreams for this country to change it for better, and I'm sure ego too. It's going to be a hard fight for the presidency, the nation is really divided. The republicans, have the old white guy, they even put out a tiny little virility statement that he had an affair with a 40 year old lobbyist. Well he is 72. McCain is a favorite just for the fact that he is an old rich white guy. The Democrats have the exciting battle. A woman many people can't stand because she's outspoken. A black man who has just two years less senatorial experience than the white woman. Hillary says she has experience. Well unless they admit that Hillary was in all those meetings with Bill and involved with all the presidential decisions, she doesn't have that much experience. We all live through those times, she just got to harass Bill for all the details when he came to bed. For that matter, Laura Bush could get into politics and claim she's had more experience than Hillary, since she has lived in the White House for 8 years and her father in law was in office for a term, and she would visit often. It's a popularity contest through and through. Who can win the most votes for prettiest, or most popular.
