Snow day!

The 1st of March brought us a strange weather occurrence. Thunder snow! It had been raining on Friday and Saturday, and we were given the forecast of snow for Sunday, and we got snow! It was a very wet snow, and there was thunder and lightning associated with it. We got 4 inches of snow. I was pretty amazed that we got more than 1 inch. We made a snowman, and tried to sled in it. Because it was so wet, there was the fear of black ice on the roads. Most of Sunday was snow or wintry mix, and the evening got fairly cold, so the schools were closed for most of the state because of this. Seriously even the southern part of the state got some good snow.

Yesterday with the snow day, kids were bored. The novelty of no school was great, but then the kids realized there wasn't much to do, the snow had melted or were chunks of ice. Neville's mom called me in the afternoon. They were at the tire center nearby and he was being rather pissy. Stinky had slept most of the morning away, so I got him up and we went over on the golf cart to keep them company. It took less time than we thought it would and I decided to bring Neville home with us. First off, never take Neville anywhere when he's in a pissy mood. It does not bode well for anyone. Second, don't let Neville into a store without his mother or he will buy candy. A pissy Neville on a sugar let down is not good.

Neville can be spoiled and lazy half the time, and yesterday was no exception. He wanted to sit in the front seat of the cart. It's not happening, and Stinky reminded him the last time he sat in the front on Halloween. Which if thinking upon reflection it is the natural state he dwells in. Sitting in the front seat, oblivious to what's going on, in his dream world with a bag of candy.

So I managed to keep two teen boys in somewhat control at the grocery store while we got some groceries, and had a quick trip back to the house. The problem was that Neville had bought water balloons. This is a bad thing on a wintry day. I warned him that the balloons would end badly. He filled up the balloons, and of course they were thrown, by Neville Stinky and the two new girls of the cul de sac. Somehow it built up to Neville being hit by one of the croquet sticks on the butt by the smaller girl. He then got very upset and started yelling and screaming about beating her face in. Neville is a mature looking 13 yo. Mature being 5'10 and weighing over 200lbs. Never good for a boy that size to threaten an 11yo girl weighing barely 60lbs. Stinky stopped him from harming the girl, which led to Neville getting upset that Stinky didn't stand up for him, and he stomped off heading for home. I was in the kitchen when all this happened, so I had to holler at Stinky for a quick audio of what I saw. We then hopped on the cart and grabbed Neville and brought him back home. This was a very short visit, if we were lucky this lasted at most 30 min before he lost his temper.

On the trip to his house, he was very hostile, upset that the girl hit him with a stick, and not being able to hurt the girl. Obviously we as adults know better than to allow this to happen. I was very proud of Stinky in stopping Neville from getting into more trouble, and keeping his calm.

It's lunch date with his mom today, so hopefully she will have told me, he's much calmer now and realizes that his actions weren't the best. He's got very strong impulse urges, and does not think like a teen yet, when his impulses get the better of him, he reverts to 6 yo attitude. Not good like I said when you are the size of an adult.
