Gas Crisis

I gotta rant about this. Why wasn't an emergency preparedness plan put in place after Hurricane Katrina? In one hundred years no one would admit or realize the dangers to New Orleans. Okay I get it. But the state never implemented a gas plan in case something should happen to our fuel supplies? Atlanta gets it's gas from two pipelines. Both lines were affected by hurricanes Ike and Gustav. Now they are wide open, but the refineries filling those pipes are back to full running yet. Other southern states are able to tape into more pipelines. Savannah gets some of it's fuel piped in from FL which has it's own refineries and pipes. The Carolinas can get some of their fuel from northeast pipelines. Upper TN and KY and tap into the midwest pipes. Atlanta is screwed for the most part. Since I'm OTP living in a less dense county, we've had fuel issues, but not as bad as ITP. I'm seeing news clips of long lines at gas stations, and it's rather scary. Thank goodness for the golf cart. Still, when the hurricanes hit, we had full tanks in both cars, and we didn't go out much. Of course by the time we needed fuel, it was in the middle of the shortage. Goof has to drive into Atlanta or Forest Park for work now, and it's a worry. Right now he's driving der Panzervagon, and it's a fuel hog, but he is planning on taking his truck in the rest of the week until his work truck is ready. We aren't sure exactly when the truck will be ready, but he's certain he's not taking my car the rest of the week. It's too much of a hassle. He was pissed off yesterday when he had to park at a garage, and it cost him $17. Been a while since he's had to pay for parking besides the airport. I still need to bring my car in for a tune up too. If it wasn't a safety issue we'd have Stinky take the bus in the morning to help conserve fuel.
Also our economy is in the tank, and Palin is still a hoot, but that's for another day.
