Lately it's been stressful in this strange little household. Stinky still has to deal with Fred, and we've been trying to remind him, not to respond to this shit head. Stinky did get in trouble though and has lost electronic privileges for 2 weeks. I had emailed his teachers on Monday to make sure all his work was made up and if he had left any work out. On top of finding out what he didn't do, he had gotten into an altercation. Seems they were in PE and one kid did something to another then it became a wrestling-choke match, and Stinky jumped in to help his friend, which in turn got him slightly hurt, which then turned to Stinky shoving the kid and kneeing him in the midsection. So he ended up with a day of in school suspension. Obviously we weren't pleased with any of this.
Now he has had several lectures, and threats of more punishment, he's still rather surly, but he says he gets why we are doing this. Who knows if he truly does or if he's placating us. There has been a lot of talk of disappointment, and frustration for us as parents. How are we to support and defend him, if he gets a reputation for fighting or not completing his assignments? Constantly reminding him, we can not take action against true injustice done to him, if the teachers think the worst of him.
I really feel that I am at wit's end with him. How can I get it through to him? He must learn and realize this for himself, and it's such a hard battle to fight. I hate that Fred is harassing Stinky. The kid needs to get any attention from Stinky. I want to go over to his grandmother and tell her, "You suck as a parental figure. Your grandson needs intense counseling and you need some serious parenting classes. Obviously this would not work. She is the type of person that talks the good talk, but in the end, it comes to her level of comfort and laziness. Hence the dogs loose on her front yard, shitting all over the place and her in the house. She doesn't want her faults pointed out. Hey grow as a person, and make changes in your life already.

He said what?
Yesterday the world blew up for the problem child of the neighborhood. Stinky and friends came home at the usual time, and for the first hour of the after school routine it was fine. Eldest came over and brought his Nintendo DS and watched Stinky play Red Dead Revolver and chat amongst themselves. Fred came knocking at the door wanting the boys to play. Now I do not like Fred or his little brother Barney whatsoever. They have issues and that's fine, but the way they respond to adults and the lack of respect to theirs and other people's property really get my goat.
Stinky and Eldest both did not want to play with Fred, and I gave them an out. I told them quite firmly. That Fred was not allowed in my home for his lack of respect to me or my property, (he did break my badminton racquet on Stinky's hand and no apologies or anything.) So the boys told him, no they weren't coming out. He had a very mean look on his face as he stomped off.
About 30 min later the boys decided they did want to go outside and play. Off they go, and Bug joined in the group. checking on the boys as I folded laundry I noticed Eldest swinging sticks like swords, Stinky hanging from a tree, and Bug was just following along. Fred was in the mix. He was doing his usual whine it looked like.
Another 30 min later, I decided to take a break from laundry and got myself settled on the loveseat with the laptop facing the backyard. I could see the boys playing in the run off ditch. Within a few moments, I hear arguing and it gets louder and louder. I hear Fred yell, "Mother fucking motard" Stinky yells at Fred to stop pushing him. I get up and go running to the boys. At this point I see a push from Fred at Stinky, and Stinky gives him a good chin clip! The boys are all in a tizzy. Stinky is telling Fred to get off his property, Fred is telling Stinky it's not his property. I'm calling to Stinky, Eldest and Bug to get in the house. I see Sponge Bob and tell him the same too. The back neighbor is coming at the boys and she's telling Fred it may not be Stinky's property, but it's certainly hers.
Fred stomps off through my yard, I speak to my neighbor for a few minutes trying to figure out what the heck. I see trash debris, I'm not happy, she's not happy, the conclusion I got from the boys, was that all the refuse; bricks, window screen, metal shelf all belonged to Fred. Lovely, not what either of us want. The fear of rats and snakes is a big deal for me.
So back into the house I go, I've got Stinky, Eldest, and Bug waiting for me, thinking they are in trouble. I tell them in no uncertain tones, that they are to avoid Fred from now on. I know that Eldest's mom agrees with this and I tell them so. Eldest and Stinky are fine with it, but Bug isn't. He does like to play with Fred. Mostly because he's younger than Stinky and Eldest, and he can't keep up.
Knock at the door, and it's Sponge Bob. He doesn't know how I run things, and wasn't sure if he was to follow the boys, so he had followed Fred. Fred and his grandmother high-tailed it out of the cul de sac. They knew they did wrong. Sponge Bob was allowed in, and they sat around the tv in a bit of adrenaline letdown.
When Goof came home, Stinky told the tale. Poor Stinky thought he would get in trouble. At this point 3 pushes constitutes protecting himself. Goof was proud of him for sticking up and protecting himself. The next step was to wait for Fred and grandmother to come back.
I went over there when they finally came home. Fred denied doing anything. I had to tell grandmother what I saw, and what the boys told me that led to the fight. Fred denied swearing. I had to remind him what he said. He did not tell his grandmother he pushed Stinky 3 times, and kicked him too. The decision I came up with, was mild, let's see if they follow through. I told them that Stinky and Fred were not to come near each other. No matter what ignore each other period, eventually they could see if they wanted to try and be friends again. Not that it is likely. We feel that at school today Fred will start telling tales about how he beat up Stinky. Which we believe Stinky will blow that out of the water. Poor Stinky, he really wanted to just be friends and hang out together. When Fred gets unhappy he starts to bully Stinky. He's a grabber too. If he's not happy, he's gotta grab the person and make a fuss. He maybe taller than Stinky, and weigh more, but we realize that's just fat.
Another thing I talked to grandmother about, were her dogs. She gave the usual excuses. The dog charged at me with teeth bared, I don't want to hear that it hasn't bit anyone. That is no excuse. We'll see if she does anything, and for how long. It's gonna come to me having the AC number on speed dial every time I see it and there is no one with them. I let her know that Goof was not happy, and that he's very protective me of me. So take it as she may, Goof is not gonna put up with those dogs charging.
The bright side to all this drama. I finally got to meet the back neighbor. Very nice woman, she loves the dogs. She asked to make sure it was the right breed. So after dinner while waiting for Fred and grandmother to come back I went with Lucy to visit her. Lucy was being sweet and curious, so she made a friend. In fact Lucy got comfortable enough to hop on everyone's lap. I'm glad she liked Lucy, but now I really have to keep an eye on her when we go out to potty, she's liable to end up on the back deck waiting for a nice lap or a little treat! She's admitted to watching us play in the backyard during the winter, and enjoyed the dog fishing we do.
Goof says I'm doing better than he did at home. Well we both know it's easier and more acceptable if it's a woman that is friendly with another female neighbor. I've gotten to see baby Squirt 3 times now, and he hasn't seen him at all. No big deal he looks just like his dad.
